Police have arrested a Hempstead man for allegedly robbing a Citibank Saturday on Old Country Road in Mineola, one of three robberies he is associated with around the area.
Detectives said a man entered the bank at noon and gave the teller a note demanding money. After the teller complied, he left on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.
Authorities arrested Loreto Ferri, 49, on Tuesday, and he was charged with first-degree robbery. His arraignment was scheduled for Wednesday.
Police initially described the suspect in the Mineola robbery as a 6-foot white male in his 40’s with an average build and salt and pepper hair. He was wearing a black jacket over a black sweatshirt.
Ferro is also charged with third-degree for allegedly robbing a Roslyn Savings Bank in Merrick on Monday in addition to another count of third-degree robbery for allegedly robbing a People’s United Bank in Garden City.
Police say all three of the robberies were performed in a similar manner, with the teller being handed a note demanding money.
None of the seven people in the building, including six employees and one customer, was injured at Citibank.
