With the help of students from Hampton Street, Jackson Avenue, Meadow Drive, and Mineola Middle Schools, Assemblyman Ed Ra (R-Franklin Square) and volunteers were able to celebrate another successful year of the Valentine’s for Veterans program.
Students created beautiful and unique Valentine’s Day cards that will be sent to veterans across Long Island. Staff were also able to collect donations of socks, toothbrushes, and other personal care items, which the Mineola Student Service Center members used to assemble
comfort care kits that will be distributed to veterans at the Northport VA Hospital and the LI State Veterans Home.
“Being able to participate in great causes like Valentines for Veterans is one of my favorite parts of being a public servant. It is always amazing to see the passion and dedication people have when they come together to serve a cause greater than themselves,” said Ra. “Far too many of our veterans are lacking the compassion and support they deserve. These programs provide a great opportunity for us to give back to those brave men and women that have dedicated their lives to defending our freedoms and hopefully put a smile on their face this Valentine’s Day.”
