Playing a rare Saturday game this past weekend, the fourth grade Chiefs lacrosse team went on the road and played in the Jericho Day of Lacrosse and beat the Jericho Jayhawks 6-3 in a tightly played game.
In a very nice touch for Mother’s Day, the boys from both teams presented flowers to the mothers at the halftime intermission. All the boys played and participated in the victory. The Chiefs continued in their winning ways to stay undefeated as they moved to 5-0 on the season.
The Chiefs offense started off slow trailing 3-1 early, but tied it 3-3 by halftime, and in the second half it was all Chiefs.
The Chiefs scoring was provided by Midfielders Michael O’Connell (two goals, two assists), Matt Sluka (one goal), Thomas Albig (one goal), and Chiefs attackmen Marc Chiappone (one goal, one assist) and Ryan Dieguez (one goal).
Chiefs midfielder’s Luke Baskind (one assist), Joey Ruscillo and Darien Lloyd worked the ball around in the offensive zone with precision with Chiefs Attackman Jack O’Brien and Sean Browne. Defensemen Anthony Giunta, Michael LaGinestra, Lance Costa, Joseph Tallini, Dylan Vincenti, James Reardon and Richie Vento put the hurt on the Jayhawks, as they protected Chiefs net minder Matty O’Connell (five saves) on their way to victory.
