A meet-up gone south in Mineola resulted in the theft of a MacBook, according to police.
A 36-year-old man agreed to sell an Apple MacBook to someone that he agreed to meet up with on the popular buying and selling site Letgo, Nassau County police said.
The men agreed to meet the evening of Friday, Feb. 15 at a location on Old Country Road and the buyer paid for the MacBook in cash, police said.
The victim, upon examining the payment, questioned if the bills were counterfeit, police said.
A second suspect then exited the vehicle that the buyer arrived in and forcibly removed the MacBook from the victim’s hands. The two suspects then fled northbound on Willis Avenue, according to police.
The man who snatched the laptop is black, approximately six feet tall and around 180 pounds, police said. The other subject was described as a black male, 20 to 30 years old. The two left the scene in a black Acura.
