Village of Lake Success trustees unanimously approved the hiring of a new deputy clerk after the previous clerk retired at the end of July.
Mayor Adam Hoffman said at Monday’s Board of Trustees meeting that the new employee, Lina De Falco, came “highly recommended.”
“She was nice and seemed capable,” Hoffman said. “We’re trying to field a need.”
He said De Falco would receive a salary of $50,000 per year and that she would contribute 50 percent toward health insurance benefits. The village contributes the other 50 percent.
De Falco, Hoffman said, previously worked for 16 years as an office manager for a medical company.
He also said that she was currently being trained for the position that was vacated by Pat Pilla.
Also at the meeting, the board unanimously approved the hiring of a new full-time police officer for the village’s Police Department.
Deputy Mayor Stephen Lam said Lake Success Police Chief Joseph Gardella interviewed Christopher Bryant, a former New York City and Suffolk County police officer, for the position and recommended him to the board.
Hoffman said Bryant served as a New York City police officer for about seven months, then served as a Suffolk County police officer for two years.
Bryant, he said, then took the Nassau County police test and finished at the top of the class.
