Our V.I.T.A. (Voluntary Income Tax Assistance) Program has been extended to all Saturdays until May 15. You can call the library, on a weekday, to request an appointment for either 12 noon or 12:30 p.m. on those Saturdays.
PET FOOD DRIVE
Hillside Library is partnering with Assemblywoman Gina L. Sillitti’s office in supporting Long Island Cares and Baxter’s Pet Pantry, in order to provide individuals and families in need, so that they can maintain their pets. There is a box at the library where your donations can be dropped off, and the supplies needed are 5+ pound bags of pet food; canned pet food; pet treats; cat litter and NEW pet toys. We thank you for your generosity.

Virtual Physician Lecture: Hearing and Hearing Disturbances Tuesday, April 27 at 12 noon. During this program, Dr. Maja Svrakic, board-certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology, of Northwell Health will discuss topics including the prevalence of hearing loss; why hearing loss should be treated and what happens if it is not; what are some hearing device options and do they work; when is surgery an option for hearing loss, and more.
Brainfuse JobNow Presents: Interview Breakthrough! Wednesday, April 28 at 5 p.m. Ashley Watkins, a Nationally Certified Résumé Writer (NCRW) and Nationally Certified Online Profile Expert (NCOPE), presents this free workshop to help you ace your next job interview! Topics covered include: Ways to prepare for virtual and in-person job interviews no matter your career level (networking, attire, etc.).Tips for researching employers and requesting your desired salary. Book Discussion: Armchair Historians Wednesday, April 28 at 7 p.m. The book being discussed is: The Sea Shall Embrace Them: The Tragic Story of the Steamship Arctic by David Shaw.”A stirring narrative that puts the reader on the deck as a shipful of men, women, and children do battle both with a mighty ocean and with their own baser instincts to survive.”
Kahoot Trivia: Fandom Fun Thursday, April 29 at 7 p.m. Ages 15 – Adult. Test your fandom knowledge with trivia from fandom faves. From Star Wars & Marvel, to Supernatural, Buffy, and many more, get your competitive nature ready to slay! All who attend will be entered in a raffle to win a prize. Book Discussion: Get to Know William Shakespeare Thursday, April 29 at 7 p.m. Haven’t read a Shakespeare play since high school? Neither have we! Let’s take the plunge together and try to decipher some of Shakespeare’s most famous works, along with his background and legacy.
Your Health, Your Values Thursday, April 29 at 7:30 p.m. Join us for a conversation about how to navigate the medical system while honoring cultural values, beliefs, and traditions. This workshop will provide information, resources, and support for older adult immigrants and their families.
Paint Night! Sketching and Acrylics with Alma Friday, April 30 at 7 p.m. Sketch and paint a gorgeous vase of roses with talented artist Alma. Supplies: Canvas or paint/watercolor paper, 12×16 in., yet any other size can work too; Acrylic Paints: red, blue, yellow, white and black. 3 different sized brushes: A very fine one for details (pointed round 5), a medium (flat or angle) and a larger (flash wash 3/4) one for the background. Tools: A cup with water, paper towel, mixing plastic pallet (can be a paper plate)
