I was appalled at the outcome of the recent Great Neck Library bond vote. I am astonished that in an era with the price of gasoline hovering in the vicinity of $4.00 per gallon that someone with a home having an assessed value of $1 million dollars is not willing to forgo the cost of two gallons per year for the restoration of one of the community’s cultural assets, with comparable reductions for lower assessed value.
