The Cradle of Aviation Museum and Education Center is excited to announce the grand reopening of its JetBlue Sky Theater Planetarium on Saturday, Nov. 28.
The all-digital, theater, planetarium, with its state-of-the-art high-resolution projection and sound system, has been closed since March as per New York State guidelines for safety due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Local theaters were permitted to reopen in late October as per NYS under strict guidelines. The museum’s theater will reopen to accommodate three shows on weekends and during school break weeks (11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m.) to a maximum 50 people assigned, spaced seatings.
Theater Guidelines
-Masks are required throughout the duration of the show.
-Theater will be cleaned between shows.
-No food or drink allowed during the show.

ONE WORLD, ONE SKY: BIG BIRD’S ADVENTURE Explore the night sky with your favorite friends from Sesame Street in One World, One Sky; Big Bird’s Adventure. Follow along with Big Bird, Elmo and their friend from China, Hu Hu Zhu, as they take you on a journey of discovery to learn about the Big Dipper, the North Star, the Sun and the Moon. Running time, 25 minutes.
ASTEROID: MISSION EXTREME takes audiences on an epic journey to discover the possibilities that asteroids present for space travel. Using stunning visuals and state-of-the-art computer graphics, the film presents the fascinating idea, based on real science, that asteroids could be used as stepping stones to other world, veritable “way stations” in space enabling us to cross the entire solar system. Running time, 25 minutes
LIVE: CURRENT NIGHT SKY Long before television, GPS and street lights, there were the stars of the night sky. Visitors will travel through the seasonal night sky to learn about constellations, hear mythical stories and observe the magnificent Long Island sky. Our live full dome programs utilize Digistar6, a visualization and simulation software aimed at presenting and teaching astronomy, astrophysics and earth sciences. Our full dome theater is a large-scale immersive environment, featuring real time digital planetarium, and large-format cinema. Running time, 25 minutes

Shows are $10.00 for Adults; $9.00 for Child/Senior. Museum visitors can also get a combo museum admission and show rate of $21.00 for Adults and $19 for Child/Senior.
The Cradle of Aviation Museum & Education Center is home to over 75 planes and spacecraft representing over 100 years of aviation history and Long Island’s only Giant Screen Dome Theater.
